I absolutely love Jackie Wilson and have many of his records - but this is probably my all-time favourite. [I bought the official UK reissue on MCA in 1969] 'The Who Who Song' was actually the B-side to the excellent 'Since You Showed Me How To Be Happy' - and I clearly remember many of the older Soul fans I knocked around with back in the day speaking reverentially about it and how it was a 'big' sound in the Soul clubs of the time. To me, it exemplifies everything Jackie Wilson stood for - unsurpassed energy, soaring vocal range combined with a deep, deep passion for his music. Written by Carl Henry Davis, Sr and Gary Lee Jackson Sr with an arrangement to die for [the swirling strings mid-record are simply sublime] I never grow tired of hearing it. It's one of those unique records that can immediately lift your spirits no matter how low you feel. R.I.P 'Mr Excitement' - you are missed.

Just picked up a used Vox AD15VT-XL amp, seems to be perfect for blasting out this particular tune! Also "In The City" sounded pretty good. I just turn up the gain loud. I don't have a Rickenbacker, just a Telecaster. Thank fuck the chords are easy on this one.
